Tango with Luz: Wednesdays in January and February, 2025

Luz Castineiras will be teaching beginning and intermediate tango on Wednesdays in January and February. The beginner class is geared towards total beginners and people who have been dancing for less than six months. In the intermediate class, we will focus on vals!

These dance classes are taught using the terms “leaders” and “followers” and is inclusive to queer, trans, and non-binary people.

Luz will teach the January series (4 dates) and the February series (3 dates).

January series: Wednesdays, Jan 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 28th
7:00-8:00 pm beginner class
8:00-8:30 pm practica
8:30-9:30 pm intermediate class
9:30-10:00 pm practica

Four-class series: $80 general admission or $60 for student with ID
Single class: $25

The practicas are included with the classes. Stay, dance, and ask questions! Intermediate students are welcome to arrive at 8:00 to practice together with the beginners. If you would like to take both the beginner and intermediate series, you need two series tickets.

Drinks are for sale at Morgan’s Bar and Lounge, across the hall from the ballroom. All ages are welcome in the dance classes.

We are a 10-minute walk from Downtown Berkeley BART. For bike parking, use the bell to enter through the service entrance, and go straight to get to the back courtyard. No parking in the City Club lot. Extra parking is available for $2 per hour at the Ellsworth Structure at 2337 Haste St.
